THE PROJECT
It is the mission of Tribe Spit Deep/Project TSD 02 to promote the spreading of minds across miles of the United States of America this spring.

The year is 2002.

The Artists: Performers, Producers, Poets, Rappers, and Novelists.
This is one 90-minute Multi-Media show not to be missed. This groundbreaking tour starts to blow in San Francisco on April 5th, 2002 and won't stop till May 6th of the same year. The Project will perform in 29 American cities with a total of 33 shows in 33 days, the age of Christ when he kicked it.

The Project comes at a crucial moment in time, when all of our lives are at stake.

We are a group of Queer, cross-cultural, cross-dressing, multi-gendered individuals, ALL Verse and unique in our talents. We will bring our own styles of spoken word, (including poetry, hip hop, and story-telling) with visuals and sound to rearrange your head. YOU.. will bring us your energy and consciousness along with ten bucks at the door. After over a decade of genius, we have earned a paycheck, and continue to fight to ensure the same for all artists.

We fear no country, religious leader, promoter of war, or Christian right. We will travel across the backs of racists, homophobes, and haters of Art to complete our mission.

Each of us have been at the forefront of our country’s queer art communities, leading them into the national spotlight. We all break stereotypes within our genre, thus giving voice to the disenfranchised while providing an educational glimpse into our world.

TRIBE is for Lynnee Breedlove, the front chick of the all dyke punk rock band Tribe 8, who turned the women’s as well as the punk music scene up-side down.

SPIT is for Sini Anderson, the co-founder and director of Sister Spit's Ramblin Road Show, who changed the connotation of "poetry reading" from High-Brow Snore to E-Ticket for Tha People.

Together we are TRIBE SPIT DEEP / PROJECT TSD 02, coming together to collaborate on the Project since our country and the calendar flipped this past year.

In a time where civil liberties are a direct threat in the face of our
irresponsible rightwing government, we will do our best to stir shit in our communities and encourage fellow artists to write, perform and protest, to live, fuck and create as they wish, to pump up brilliant minds to their loudest, freest, most passionate levels, to destroy segregation, inspire others, and in turn welcome the inspiration of our peers.

Along the way this tour will feature as guests some the brightest of those peers: HOLLY HUGHES of the NEA Five, ... ALIX OLSON, an NYC Slam Poet who is always Feeding the Fire, ... And NOMY LAMM of the Transfused, Sister Spit and her own righteous fame.. We are about to blow towards you, and we are asking you to SUPPORT THE PROJECT, SUPPORT THE PROJECT, SUPPORT THE PROJECT.
